These passages were not the point I wanted to make but it just shows that how rules -even divine ones- contradicts with each other..

So maybe everybody should create their own rules and norms(but that's another issue)..

There are some possible problems that claimed by anti-gay marriages/relationships such as destruction of social structure, lack of births, possible corruption of next generations etc..

Anyway, who cares about these? I think it is just about not being able to accept other people's differences..

Any person who thinks a little logically can find that homosexual marriages cannot cause the consequences above..

Either there are or not homosexual couples, there will always be heterosexual couples too..

So, If someone is afraid of homosexuality; I can assure that if they don't get homosexual, there is nothing to be afraid of.. 

relationship status: in relationship with the state..

the marriage is basically official and/or religious bondage between two people.. 

there would be tons of reasons for people to get together, to live together such as economic, physical, emotional needs..

however there are a few necessity to get actually officially married..

most people who thinks that marriage is a necessity to live together are afraid of social degredation or social pressure.. 

I don't think that there is a real difference between signing some papers and then living together and just living together.. 

while a piece of signed official paper or witness of the state could not protect people from getting cheated or left, not signing those papers and not wearing fancy clothes in front of the guests is not a mistake and does not mean that people will probably get one-night-stands till the end of their life..

the summary of this post and actually my point of view in general, we should stop the state interfering our businesses, our bedrooms, our houses and our lives.. 

presentation skills for dummies

actually i didn't want to talk about these points but i could remember nothing about movie presentations but stupid mistakes and foolish efforts to present some information..

first of all if you want to make a presentation in group, you have to work on it before your presentation, not during the presentation..

and if you want to make it better, work on it together because if you don't, you probably talk about same thing or completely irrelevant topics..

secondly, if you want to use MS Office programs, do not write everything you want to say in it.. because if you do it like that, nobody needs you to present, you can put the kettle on and make some tea by that time..

another tip; prepare some notes to remind main topics to you during the presentation.. it is not a bad thing to forget the order of topics.. (at least it is better than reading all the things from the computer screen)

moreover, if there is a projector, please, do not stand up between the curtain and the audience.. what is the point to use a projector if you do not allow people to see anything..

furthermore, (it may not be important, it may be personal.. i'm not sure but) please DO NOT PUT YOUR HANDS IN YOUR POCKETS.. if you do it again, i won't listen to you again..  

speed of speech, manner of presenter, cloths of presenter, timing of presentation etc. are some other points about a presentation, but unfortunatelly i'm out of heading language phrases right now..

the duchess

the most useful movie to discuss about gender inequalities..

although it is obviously against the violence against women, I think I saw a rigid violence against the main male character by "the duchess"..

maybe nobody wants to talk about it but I guess the duchess yelled and insulted the duke as much as the duke did..

maybe talking about inequalities is more interesting than talking about real equalities..

analyzing a movie or analyzing the inequalities would not be something like insulting and negatively criticizing one side to praise another..

reality TV: a dearth of talent and the death of morality

as salman rushdie said, TV shows are quickest  way to get famous. if a contestor give what people want to watch in the show, s/he gets famous which means covering the first page. this act not required any talent,it is daily things, the only aim is to get famous and rich in where everyone can see what happens. for example, in big brother, people fight each other in order to satisfy audience’s expectations and thanks to that raitings going up. what I mean is, viewers’ voyeurism is to watch people who does nothing at all, who show off in TV and spend their time to have event glamour which have not a real value, just banal things that can be ignored.

Enormous Radio

I think we can compare this story with the reality Tv shows. If we look at the main character of the story Irene, at first she appears as a proper wife and a regular mom. But after the coming of the enormous radio, she become obsessed with listening to her neighbors personal lives. At the same time, she is struck with horror with the possibility of others to hear her too because she does not want anybody to learn what is she hiding behind her innocent appearence.
I think "The Enormous Radio" shows us, how much we enjoy watching other lives, and that makes voyeurism the strongest theme in the story. But the crucial fact is, if we all have the same enormous radio, i believe, we all listen to our neighbors lives as well. But such kind of a misuse of technology could not affect us in a good way.

if you want to make some fried green tomatoes here is the recipe for fried green tomatoes:

you will need:

3 medium, firm green tomatoes

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 cup milk

2 beaten eggs

2/3 cup fine dry bread crumbs

1/4 cup olive oil

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

how to make:

Method-1 cut unpeeled tomatoes into 1 cm slices. sprinkle slices with salt and pepper. let tomato slices stand for 15 minutes.. meanwhile, place flour, milk, eggs, and bread crumbs in separate shallow dishes.. heat 2 tsp of olive oil in a skillet on medium heat.. dip tomato slices in milk, then flour, then eggs, then bread crumbs.. in the skillet, fry half of the coated tomato slices at a time, for 4-6 minutes on each side or until brown.. as you cook the rest of the tomatoes, add olive oil as needed.. season to taste with salt and pepper..

Method-2 take some green tomato pickle and fry it for 2-3 mins..

Method-3 just ask your mom to make some fried green tomatoes..

I think we forgot some petty things that we realized about the movie.

first of all every scene that you see a train or hear a voice of a train whistle something bad happens in the movie.

someone dies, someone's heart is broken, some couple breaks up etcetera.. 

it is something just like the godfather triology and oranges (you know, whenever you see an orange somebody gets shot)

second thing that we did not want to mention that, if you look them closely, you would realize that all the animals in the women support group were male.

we don't know that if it was an important point or not but we just noted it down.. 

another thing is not actually something that we realized but we wonder if the old woman in the hospital was idgie or not.(and i think she is..)

one last thing that we wonder was if idgie and ruth love each other, you know, romantically.. if they do, why didn't they say anything about that? if they don't, why did ruth say so in the court?

And of the Clay That We Are Created

The distance between reality and television is the main contrast which I was attracted in this story. Rolf Carle's life is so far away than the one that Azucena had. Their view points were standing at the two opposite poles. Azucena accepted her faith as a child instead of Rolf Carle didn't as a journalist. In reality it seemed so probable to rescue Azucena in that situation, but firstly the pump is unreachable and more importantly Azucena's life is laying somewhere deep in the mud hidden and untouchable. 

Distance between narrator and Rolf Carle is a distance seemed more familiar to me and understanding this distance is slightly easy. In the morning of the disaster, narrator made coffee to Rolf Carle and sent him. But when he came back Rolf Carle was not the same person he used to be.

The ironic contrast between Azucena's and Rolf Carle's journeys in the story is that Rolf Carle journeyed to his youth that he had hidden somewhere in his subconscious while Azucena journeyed to next-after life, if exists, where she had already prepared herself in her subconscious. I think the most interesting contrast is that the people who are not religious, pray to god when they had suffered a problem which they couldn't solve, just like Rolf Carle did. There is no way that I can understand this, is Rolf Carle really believed that god, itself, would do anything to change the situation, not just Azucena's but his situation too.

I think mentally photojournalism is one of the most tiring professions in the world. There is too much pressure on journalists. As an ethical point of view they have to publish what camera shotted, however there are always individual, religious and regional profits that come to scene, also values of humanity are still important.

Women and children first..

I won't talk too much this time..

I don't know how long, but there are some rumors about gender, inequality, stratification, etc.

You know what? They are imitated, designed, invented names to create seperations..

Video tells that 1/3 of women are exposed to violence..

So 2/3 of them are not..

And I know that (if you want you can check) 1/3 of people who are exposed to domestic violence are men..

What do you say about that?

Is that about the saying "Women and children first!" ?

The term is instulting, the motto is one sided, everyone is against the violence against women.. (so do i..)

But i ve never seen anyone, anything, any movement, any effort against the violence against men..

So does that mean you are supporting it?

Feminsim, womanism, and other zillion variations of them... They just divide people into groups, and label them..

Their only purpose is to destroy the patriarchal system of today and to create a new stratification based on matriarchy.. (and i don't support any of them)

Eventually everything will repeat again and again like a circle..

Forget about feminist and gender-based mottos..

Stand against violence against "human"..

Say something more egaliterian..

what a pointless question.. is music piracy stealing? 

first of all I want to tell my side; I download for free and I don't get the point of copyright regulations. how can governments enact a law about so called stealing that they don't have? but that is another bussiness. 

the mistaken point of copyright is that piracy is not stealing, it is basically copying. if you steal something it disappear for everyone else. if you can you see cocaine by eric clapton somewhere else, that means I didn't steal it. a singer records a song and brand it, takes copyrights, the album takes place on shelves, some guy buys it, goes home, makes a copy and puts it on the internet. government cannot accuse me of downloading a song, I took it from a generous friend who doesn't care about money, who cares only about the spread of art. government cannot accuse that guy of stealing, because he paid for it and the cd is his property and he can do whatever he wants with it. singer can oppose and say "this is my property". ok! that's right, that is your production then keep it yourself. we advertise for him/her, he/she should appreciate.

in addition to that, when I download, I download only one song. there are about 13 songs in an album and I don't want to pay 20-30 TL for only one song that I want to listen to and 12 songs that I don't care about. there are also single albums which are 10-15 TL and I don't want to talk about them.

another option is download songs for little costs. this is the most logical proposal of copyright holders and I made a simple calculation, I have about 20.000 songs in the several files, and I downloaded them all. cost of each song is about 0.15$. that means I stole about 4500 TL for now, and I keep stealing. on the other hand I don't have that much money and if you offer that money (maybe a little bit more) I can quit listening music, honestly..

I hope noone sneaks me and I hope someday a kind of piratpartiet gets elected in this country.. until that day I will keep "stealing" from rich men who don't need my little amounts of money..

Reality TV.. Really?

anytime we turn on the tv, we can see at least one reality show. common people watch them all the time, and they really like these type of shows. the real reason behind this probably is pure ignorance. people watch them because they think these shows are really interesting. they think that reality shows are real. 


but the reality is different, reality shows are not actually real. everyone likes to see a part of themselves in television so these shows are designed to satisfy this need. everyone wants to be "the Big Brother". 


they want to be watching all the people all the time. they want to see all the relationships, every fights, every problems, every elation in people's life. they want to see an action, an emotion..  


however there is a missing point in both Orwell's and reality audience's thought, as Palahniuk said in his novel Lullaby, the Big Brother is not the one who is watching. he is singing and dancing. he pulls rabbits out of a hat. the Big Brother is busy holding your attention every moment you are awake, you are always distracted, you are fully absorbed,  your imagination withers.

until your brain is as useful as your appendix. and this being fed, it is worse than being watched with the world always filling you, no one has to worry about what is in your mind. with everyone's imagination atrophied, no one will ever be a threat to the world..
